PRESEC OSU INAUGURATES OLYMPIC CLUB

The head of Physical Education Department of the Osu Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), Mr Paul Kofi Yesu Dadzie, has asked students in the country to reject the perceived notion of sports being an occupation for school dropouts.
He said that was a wrong perception and encouraged students who had interest in sports to stay focused in order to achieve their aim.
Mr Dadzie said this at the inauguration of the school’s ‘PRESEC Osu Olympic Club’.
The Olympic Club, which is made up of 120 members; 85 girls and 35 boys, aims at educating the youth on peace, harmony, fair play and friendship, through the use of sports, drama and music.
It also upholds the principles of Olympism, which includes aiming high and self-confidence.
Mr Dadzie, the brain behind the formation of the club, explained that the Olympic Club was formed in 2004 and its activities had been integrated into the Physical Education (P.E.) lessons to make it beneficial to every student in the school.
In his inaugural address, Mr Nelson Kwame Tetteh, said "As future leaders, students must be educated on fair play to avoid discrimination and promote understanding among themselves".
He, therefore, urged the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to team up with the Ministry of Education (GES) and other stakeholders to formulate a policy which would make it obligatory for all educational institutions in the country to observe the World Olympic Day as well as develop programmes olympic-related programmes in all levels of education.
